Holiday Cheerio

There hasn't been much snapping (of the camera) around here lately. Today I resolved to change that! I wanted great portraits with Christmas tree bokeh in the background... easier said than done! I had pretty good success with individual shots but when I put everybody together for a group shot... let's just say it did not go well! My girl started to cry and I offered a snack- instantly they all had a smile- they didn't hold still or look at the camera but they did smile!
Oh well, here are the ones that I like best:)

Have yourself a Merry little Christmas!

Hair Cuts

Yesterday we went to "The hair cut place." My big boy doesn't mind having his hair cut, in fact, he loves having a captive audience! He talks to the "hair cut lady" about anything that comes to mind. On the way home he said "my hair cut is blowing away!"
I was worried that my girl would not do well but she sat still and didn't even freak out when "the lady" put the cape on her, making thumb sucking out of the question. at the end she said "my hair is not in my eyes! Now can I have a sucker?" motivation is everything :-)
Maybe I'm biased but I think she looks adorable.

Family Photo

This was my first family photo session, thankfully I was shooting an awesome family, and aren't those boys adorable?
The weather was perfect for photography and the park was crowded with people who had the same idea as us but we still found some great spots and I cleaned stray people out of a few backgrounds afterwards. I'm so thankful for Photoshop!
The littlest little guy gave me a run for my money, let's just say he didn't want to pose for the camera but I still got a few smiles out of him- what a cute boy!
I brought a stuffed bear and balanced it on my head to keep the kids' attention. It kept falling off, and the littlest guy looked at me like I had lost my mind! Big brother took good care of Bear while he played on the train.
This last one is just a snapshot but I still like the warm loving feel.

5 Things

It's already time for another scavenger hunt! You have got to take a look at Ashley Sisk's photos from this week- they are awesome!
Even though my images are not nearly as good as Ashley's, I still had a lot of fun.

4. Candle
5. Traffic Signals or Signs

"Of all the things I've lost, I miss my mind the most."

I seriously thought that I lost my mind today. That's it! It's gone for good. The kids have been sick this week and although the fevers have all passed, they are so grumpy! I took the kids outside this morning for a change of scenery but that didn't help at all so we came inside for an early lunch. After the kids went down for naps I looked around for my favorite mug. I remember pouring a second cup of coffee this morning but I don't remember drinking it and I could really use some coffee right now! I looked everywhere, outside, in the laundry room, I even snuck into the kid's room... no luck. I began to doubt that my favorite mug ever existed when I took one last look in the garage:

there it was in the seat of the John Deere and do you want to know the saddest part about it?

There wasn't even any coffee left. Well, I guess the only thing left to do is go brew more while the house is still quiet!

The innocence of a child

I'm entering the Pixel Perfect contest at the last minute. The theme is "the innocence of a child" which is surprisingly difficult for me! I decided to enter this one since it best captures this innocence of my little girl.

Baby, baby, baby!

Here are some photos from my first infant photo shoot. This baby is such a handsome little man, and quite the model- he woke up soon after we began and struck little poses for me!
While I'm happy with the images, I still have a lot of room for improvement and I welcome constructive criticism.

Skin tone

My skin tones are often too orange or red. Take a look at this cute little guy:
I fiddle around until I get something that may or may not be better...
or I convert to black & white.
Any ideas?

Vacation

It's been a while since I have posted anything and I'd like to catch up. I went on vacation with my family- my husband's whole family went to North Carolina together and it was amazing! We stayed in a house on the beach that was big enough for all 20 of us. We did all kinds of wonderful "vacationy" things: we played on the beach, went on a boat ride and watched dolphins playing around the boat, we played putt-putt golf where my 3 yr. old nephew got a hole in one (I think that we should watch that one!) that's the same nephew who, when asked what he thought of the ocean answered "well, it moves a little bit." Here are some photos:

pardon the random rooster shot. He was at the right place at the right time so he got his picture taken!

"I like the sand but not the beach!"

Talk about luxury, a nap on the beach!
