Reflections

This photo is from when my oldest boy was 17 months old. He was born to communicate! Before he had any words he was making conversation as though he were an adult (it was really cute baby babble :) Now my little guy is 4 and he still has never met a stranger. As we walked through the store this morning every cashier smiled and waved to him- no wonder he thinks he's a rock star! As he hopped up into the barber chair last week he asked "So, have you worked here long?" He also says things that melt my heart: "Mom! I'm an Astronaut and I came back from outer space because I forgot to give you a hug and kiss."

Last week he asked:

"Why do you always wear that ring, mom?" Me: "Because I promised your Dad that I would always love him." "Well I want to wear a ring all the time too because I promise to always love you."

Ah, such things as these make me wish he could be 4 forever. But then again, I didn't want him to grow out of his baby babbling phase either because I had no idea how awesome my 4 yr old would be... I bet 5 is gonna be awesome too.

Scavenger Hunt

1. Memories
Does anyone else remember when the play ground seemed so BIG and the rings were so high? I specifically remember how happy I was when I crossed the monkey bars by myself (I also remember how it made my hands burn)! Now I have little ones of my own who think that when they swing high, their toes touch the sky.

2. Silhouette
When I saw these at my husband's parent's house they reminded me how much I loved to make paper snowflakes when I was a little girl. I went home and made some with my kids!

3. Doorway
I love how little ones step over a threshold as if it's such a big step!

4. Reflection
Hey there, cutie!

5. Silver
He gave this to me for my 18th birthday, now he's my husband... I'll love him forever!

Flashbacks and Fishes on Friday

This is my first time linking up with Foto Friday, I'm very excited and I hope that I did everything right! Here's my "Light" photo:

This is from my oldest boy's 2nd birthday- we gave him a fish tank... he was super happy! I love the light on his face and the wonder in his eyes. One of the fish (a Gourami) hid inside the car most of the time. My boy named him "Heavy" and he would say "Where's Heavy go? Oh, he's inna Jeep."
Well, Heavy died a while ago, and other less interesting fish have come and gone so we headed back to "the Fish Store" (aka PetsMart) to buy some more fish. My boy thought he would buy a ghost fish (the kind that's completely see-through) or a shark (what's the difference, right?) but in the end we bought an African dwarf frog and another Heavy. Ah, I love how simple life is right now :)

Usefulness

I've been thinking a lot about how to make this blog more interesting and helpful, which is difficult because I don't have any wisdom, advice or tips to share... but I just found someone who is absolutely fabulous: Maybe you have already heard of Jasmine Star? If not, you should take a look at her work- the quality of each image is truly inspiring! She has an awesome blog too; here's a great post that I just read: Blogging tips+tricks

Hopefully that was useful!

Oh no, now I'm out of ideas again...

And I don't have any profound photos to end with. So I'll put up a random pic that I think is pretty.

Have a great day!

Scavenger Hunt

1. A Different View
Hey! I'm usually the one taking pictures! ;)
2. Looking Up
3. Abstract
I was really surprised how difficult this was! It's still not great...
4. Hair
5. Half

There are a ton of incredible images at Ramblings and Photos, check them out here!

Update:

I was wrong, the snow did not melt away and we ventured out to see if our yard was still glassy. The kids actually cried when they heard that we were going outside: "Why are we going out there? We will all fall down!" but the ice had melted just enough that we could have some fun...
and even make a slushy snow man!
the next morning this is what we saw when we went out to check on him:
apparently he wanted a new look. And that's ok with me, at least we got our snow man!

Snowy Days

We've had a lot of snow and ice around here -it's lasted all week which is more than we are used to and reactions at my house are mixed: My oldest boy was really excited at first but it turned out to be too hard and not good for making snow balls- in fact our entire yard turned into solid ice over night!
My girl's comment "I don't wike it, I want dee kind that makes snowmen." and when she saw that it was icy 2 days in a row she said "Diss must be the Nof Pole!"
My littlest guy took his blanket outside with him so he was fine until he realized that he couldn't suck his thumb with mittens on.

We should have named them Linus & Lucy!

now it's melting and my little people are looking for proper snow tonight... the kind that makes snowmen.
